The ISO 9001:2026 Certification-Ready System

$997

A ready-written document you adapt to your business. Instant download.

ISO 9001 documentation, complete: all 42 documents for the 2026 edition, built and ready to make your own. No gaps, no guesswork, no consultant.

Used properly, this is what it does for your business:

  • ✓More customers: the tender lists and bigger buyers you are shut out of today ask for exactly this.
  • ✓More profit: fewer mistakes, less rework, less scrap. All of it drops to the bottom line.
  • ✓Less stress: the business runs the same way whether you are in the building or on holiday.
  • ✓Look the part: on paper, to anyone who checks, you are the proper business you already are.

The complete system. Nothing missing, nothing padded.

Why not a cheaper kit? Many leave out the quality manual, or are a pile of separate templates that never quite fit together. This is one joined-up system of 42 documents, built to the 2026 edition by a company director of over 30 years, for a fraction of a consultant's fee.

"Plain Standards have continually under-promised and over-delivered. Outstanding service." Paul J, ATM Security

You don't need to learn ISO 9001. Our documents cover every clause for you, so you can get on with running your business.

By now you may have worked something out. A single document is a useful start, but a certificate is not given for a handful of forms. It is given for a complete, working quality management system, and building that piece by piece is slow, and it is easy to miss something.

This is the whole thing. Every document a small or medium sized business needs to run, evidence and certify an ISO 9001 system, curated into one set that fits together and cross-references properly, because it was built as one system rather than assembled from parts.

No guessing what is still missing. No gap you find out about only when an assessor points at it. You start with the full set in your hands, plus $165 of practical bonus templates, free.

Who this is for

This is for the business that has decided to get certified and wants the whole system in one go, not one document at a time. If you would rather start with a complete, joined-up set and adapt it to how you work, than build it piece by piece and hope you have not missed anything, this is for you.

What this is

This is The ISO 9001:2026 Certification-Ready System: 42 controlled documents that together make a complete, certifiable quality management system.

That is 1 quality manual, 1 quality policy, 14 procedures, 15 forms and templates, and 11 registers. Every document ISO 9001 expects a small or medium sized business to have, written so your staff will actually want to use them, cross-referenced to each other, and numbered to a single master index so you always know what you have and which version is current.

It includes the ten Essentials, so if you have bought any of those already, everything they do is in here too. It also comes with a Start Here guide that shows you how to use the documents and the order to work through them, from opening the pack to being ready for certification. You adapt it to how your business actually works, put it to use, and you have the system an assessor is looking for. You do it yourself, at your own pace. Nobody comes in, and nobody writes it for you.

On top of the 42, you get five bonus templates, free, worth $165 if bought on their own:

  • SOP Template: write each job down once, so it’s done the same way every time, by whoever is on hand.
  • Root Cause Analysis Template: find the real cause of a mistake and fix it for good, so you stop paying for the same one twice.
  • Skills Matrix Template: see who can do what at a glance, and spot a training gap before a customer does.
  • Onboarding Checklist: get every new starter set up properly and earning their keep sooner, with nothing missed.
  • Internal Audit Report Template: sum up each internal audit on one page, so your management review sees what was found and what was put right.

You also get an optional Identification, Traceability and Property Procedure (SOP-1852), free and outside the 42. It sets out how to mark your work so it can be traced, look after material and tooling that belong to your customers, and protect your work until delivery, with worked examples from a machine shop, a steel fabricator and a precision engineering company.

What is inside for the 2026 edition

  • Context and interested parties: the Context and Interested Parties Register (REG-1410) records which of your interested parties' needs your system deals with, and your decision on whether climate change is relevant to your business (required since the February 2024 amendment and kept in the 2026 edition).
  • Quality policy: the Quality Policy (POL-1520), based on your business's context and direction.
  • Risks and opportunities, kept separate: the Risk and Opportunity Register (REG-1610) records each risk and each opportunity with its own action, judges how much each one matters, and checks afterwards whether the action worked.
  • Change control: the Change Record (F-1856-1) plans each change in full: what it affects, the resources needed, who is responsible, how it will be communicated, and how you will check it worked.
  • Customer communication: the Customer Requirements Review Procedure (SOP-1820) includes telling customers about your contingency plans where relevant, such as what happens if supply is disrupted.
  • Management review: the Management Review Procedure (SOP-1930) and the Management Review Agenda and Minutes (F-1930-1) cover all twelve inputs, with actions on risks and actions on opportunities reviewed as separate items.
  • Internal audit: the Internal Audit Procedure (SOP-1920), the Internal Audit Programme and Schedule (F-1920-1), with space to record each audit's purpose, scope and criteria, and the QMS Internal Audit Checklist (F-1920-2).
  • What changed, in one place: the Quality Manual (M-1430) has a "What changed in 2026" section.
  • Instructions for adapting it: the Start Here guide, plus guidance inside every document.
  • Gap analysis: not included in this pack. It is sold separately as the ISO 9001:2026 Gap Analysis Template, $79.

A quality manual, included, even though the standard no longer demands one

Here is something many template sellers quietly leave out. Since 2015, ISO 9001 has not required you to have a quality manual. So the cheaper kits drop it, because it is the hardest document to write well.

We include one, as the centrepiece of the whole system. Not to tick a box, but because it is the single document that lets anyone, a new member of staff, a customer, or an assessor, see how your whole system fits together on one read. Assessors still expect to see one. Big clients checking you over still ask for one. And frankly, it is the document that makes the other 41 make sense as one joined-up way of running the business, rather than a pile of separate forms. You get it built and ready to adapt.

Built as one system, not assembled from parts

The value is not 42 documents. It is 42 documents that fit together. Each one is numbered, cross-referenced to the others it works with, and listed on a single master index that tracks every version. That is what an assessor means by document control, and it is the thing a folder of separately bought templates never quite has. When your management review procedure points to the right register, and that register points back to the right form, the system holds together under scrutiny because it was designed to.

Five common problems with ISO 9001 templates, and how ours avoid them

  1. They're written for someone else's business. Ours are written for any small or medium sized business, and removable Getting Started boxes show you how to make each one yours.
  2. You have to buy a tool before you can edit them. Ours are editable Microsoft Word files. You pay once, the licence is permanent, and there is no subscription or anything extra to buy.
  3. They're still written to the old 2015 edition. Ours are written to ISO 9001:2026, with free updates for the life of the 2026 edition and an email whenever a file changes.
  4. Your staff won't read them. Ours use short, clear statements your team can follow from day one. The teaching sits in separate boxes, so the procedure itself stays easy to use.
  5. They don't get you to a certificate. Our 42 documents cover every clause. Run the system for about three months, and Mike Armstrong can assess it remotely and certify it for $1,497. Plain Standards certification is unaccredited.

It builds your evidence trail from day one

A certificate is not given for owning the right documents. It is given for showing your business actually does these things, day to day, with records to prove it. The moment you start using this system, every register you maintain and every form you complete becomes a piece of that evidence. The sooner you begin, the longer your trail by the time you are assessed, and a system that has clearly been in real use is exactly what earns a certificate that means something.

The affordable route to certified, without needing a consultant

Many firms assume the only way to a complete system is to pay a consultant to write one. For most small and medium sized businesses, it is not the only way. A curated system you adapt yourself gets you to the same place for a fraction of the cost, and you understand your own system at the end of it because you built it. It is an affordable alternative to consultant fees, and the work behind it is no thinner for the saving.

A note on what is included

This is the complete system, not a starting point. Everything a small or medium sized business needs to build, run, evidence and certify an ISO 9001 quality management system is in the set, including the quality manual and every system-level document, all cross-referenced and indexed. There is no separate "full version" to buy afterwards and nothing deliberately held back. When you are ready to be assessed, Plain Standards can certify this system for you, remotely, without a consultant.

Where this leads

The pack builds your system. From here, it helps to understand the certification journey and the standard behind it:

Why buy from us

  • ✓Built by a company director, not an auditor. Written by someone who ran real businesses before building management systems, so what you get works in the real world, not just on paper.
  • ✓Written in plain English. No jargon, no clause-speak. If you are new to ISO 9001, it will make sense on day one.
  • ✓The Operator's Take, in every document. Look inside any Plain Standards document and you will find a boxed note called The Operator's Take: a short, plain comment from someone who has run businesses, explaining why this document actually matters to yours, and how to get real value from it, not just tick a box for an auditor. No other provider gives you this, because it comes from having sat in the chair.
  • ✓Honest, unaccredited, and clear about it. A genuine route to a working system, with no false claims and nothing hidden.

Where the system leads

Run it, keep the records, and this is what we assess you for.

What are the mandatory documents for ISO 9001?

ISO 9001:2026 requires only a handful of documents, mainly your scope, quality policy and quality objectives, plus a set of records that prove the work happened, such as training, internal audits, management reviews and corrective actions. Most written procedures are optional, although auditors often expect to see them. This system covers every required document and record, plus the procedures and registers auditors expect, across 42 documents you adapt to how your business works.

How many documents do you need for ISO 9001?

There is no single fixed number, because ISO 9001 asks for the documented information needed to run and prove your system rather than a set count. For a typical small or medium sized business that comes to somewhere around the 42 documents in this system: one quality manual, one policy, fourteen procedures, fifteen forms and templates, and eleven registers. That is enough to be complete without being padded with paperwork you will never use.

Does ISO 9001 require a quality manual?

No, ISO 9001 has not required a quality manual since the 2015 revision, but many assessors and larger clients still expect to see one. We include a full quality manual as the centrepiece of this system, because it is the one document that shows how everything else fits together. It is optional under the standard, and genuinely useful in practice, which is why the cheaper kits leave it out and we do not.

Can I write my own ISO 9001 documentation?

Yes, you can write your own ISO 9001 documentation, and you are also free to adapt a ready-made system, which is far faster and less risky. Starting from a complete, cross-referenced set means you are editing rather than inventing, and you are far less likely to leave a gap that an assessor finds later. This system is built to be adapted to how your business actually works, not used blind.

Is this enough to get ISO 9001 certified?

Yes, this system contains every document needed for a small or medium sized business to reach certification, provided you adapt it to how you work and put it genuinely into use. The documents are the framework; the certificate comes from actually running the system and building real records. That is true of any documentation, ours included, and it is why certification rewards use, not just ownership.

How much does a full ISO 9001 documentation package cost?

A full ISO 9001 documentation package typically ranges from a few hundred dollars for a basic template set to several thousand if a consultant writes it for you. This complete 42-document system is $997, which sits well below the consultant route and reflects a genuinely complete, cross-referenced system with the quality manual included, not a thin starter kit.

Written by Mike Armstrong, senior ISO consultant, former company director, and founder of Plain Standards. In over 30 years running companies at director level, Mike built his own management systems to drive profit long before he adopted ISO 9001, so he comes at this from the owner's side, not the auditor's. Plain Standards helps small and medium sized businesses get ISO certified without a consultant.

I'm genuinely astounded by just how good this pack is. I admit to being a little skeptical at first but took the plunge, and I'm so glad that I did. This scores a definite 10/10 from me and my team.

This is an awesome set of documents. We didn't need to add a single thing. Added our logo and name, then got straight into using it within our teams. They have reported back that they are finding every form, procedure and register are making their lives infirnitely easier. Looking forward to certification soon!
